Jack Ryan
Accredited Practicing Dietitian (APD)
Jack is an Accredited Practising Dietitian with experience across clinical practice and exercise and nutrition trials in adults. He works with people with type 2 diabetes to achieve meaningful weight loss and, where possible, diabetes remission through structured nutrition, strength training, and habit coaching.
His approach focuses on building independence. Clients learn practical skills in meal planning, protein intake, and daily activity so progress continues long after the program ends.
Whether you are newly diagnosed or working towards better long-term control, Jack provides clear, practical, evidence-based guidance every step of the way.

Dr. Carlie Bauer
Accredited Exercise Physiologist (AEP)
Carlie is an Accredited Exercise Physiologist with a PhD in exercise science, specialising in how exercise supports muscle strength, bone health, and metabolic health.
She has worked across research and applied exercise programs, including clinical trials in adults and ageing populations. Her role within Momentum is to ensure exercise is safe, progressive, and effective – particularly during weight loss.
Carlie designs programs that build strength and confidence while protecting muscle and reducing injury risk, making exercise achievable for people at all starting points.

Dr. Jakub Mesinovic
Exercise and Nutrition Scientist
Jakub is an exercise and nutrition scientist who is an expert in weight loss, exercise, and type 2 diabetes. He has published more than 40 peer-reviewed articles investigating how resistance training, aerobic exercise, and nutrition strategies influence muscle health and blood glucose control.
He has led and contributed to multiple clinical trials and large research reviews in obesity, ageing, and metabolic health.
Within Momentum, Jakub translates this research into practical, telehealth-ready programs that support fat loss and preserve muscle in real-world conditions.
The Science Behind Momentum
The amount of weight a person with type 2 diabetes loses is closely linked to their chances of achieving remission — defined as normal blood glucose levels without diabetes medication. In large, structured lifestyle trials, people who lose more weight are far more likely to enter remission than those who lose less. For example, in a major UK primary care weight-management study, nearly half of participants achieved remission after one year of intensive, structured support, and the likelihood of remission increased with greater weight loss.
However, weight loss alone is not enough. Losing significant weight without attention to muscle and bone health can reduce strength, slow metabolism, and make long-term maintenance harder. Research in older adults shows that combining resistance training with nutrition strategies helps preserve muscle and functional capacity even during substantial weight loss — a key difference between weight loss that is merely temporary and weight loss that is sustainable.
Momentum is built on these principles. We pair structured, evidence-informed weight-loss guidance with resistance-based movement and practical nutrition coaching so you don’t just lose weight — you protect muscle, improve metabolic health, and build habits you can maintain long term.
